Cloverdale Weekend Weather:

Gusting winds are expected throughout the shire today bringing temperatures down and pollen counts up. Coats and jackets are advised along with several clean handkerchiefs for those suffering from allergies.

The Kelly Family will perform tonight on Cloverdale Weekend Television starting at 21:30 hours. A clip of the performance is included in this posting. The program is suitable for all viewers.

Cloverdale's Tempest

A spring storm thundered over Cloverdale last night. The Booming of thunder followed each blinding light sending the village’s youngest into their parent’s beds. Power went out for nearly an hour when the Milton’s old oak lost a branch over the power lines causing the main switch in the power house near the Clover River to trip. Of course, this happened in the middle of the night causing several to arrive late for work.

The Coastal Express experienced delays because of rock slides in the mountains. The announcement of the hour long delay emptied the train station. The inconvenienced passengers found some comfort in the good English breakfast served at McDunces

The Gabbing Geezers early morning coffee and tea club was in full debate as people trickled in. This morning's debate centered around the headline in the village paper reading, "First Touch Tone Phones. Now Traffic Lights? Cloverdale, A Community Experiencing Future Shock!" The village council is proposing to replace two of Cloverdale's Roundabouts with traffic lights. Of course, the Gabbing Geezers see no need. Mind you, most of them are beyond the government's allowed age for driving, but if its an opinion you're after, they've got one and be ready for a good hour of explanation, repeated multiple times within that hour.

DunceMail was late in arriving as well due to a misplaced boulder. It rolled down a hillside during the tempest, finding a new resting place on the main road into the village.

Minor flooding was reported along the Clover River around 6:00 A.M. There were no injuries and most cars heeded the village's new "Beware of Floods" sign and drove around the flooded street, although most said it wasn't the sign that dissuaded them from driving through the standing water.
"When I saw old Toffer Moor in his rowboat crossing the road in front of me I took a second thought and found an alternate route," said door to door Fuller Brush salesman Dean Drippley.

The village is returning to normal and life in Cloverdale will continue in its own confused and semi natural way.

Right here on Cloverdale Weekend Television's Community Access Channel (CAC). On CAC the citizens of Cloverdale and surrounding communities can produce and broadcast unique television programs designed to meet local needs.

At 10:00 A.M. CAC presents HYMN TIME, produced and directed by Brother Arvin Wynn of 13 StoneyBrook Road, Cloverdale. Brother Wynn started HYMN TIME in 1994 out of his parent's basement. Today he broadcasts from his new studio in his own home with the assistance of his wife Clara and his son Elijah. During the week You'll find Brother Wynn at his day job, owner and manager of Cloverdale's Flower Pot Flower Shop on the High Street.



Brother Arvin and his family are members of Cloverdale's vibrant Baptist Church. If its Sunday then step outside into your front garden and listen for the sound of music. Follow your ears. They'll lead you the Church on Elm Avenue. Bring your voice and your sins because all sinners are welcome (do not confuse the Baptist Church with the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall located across the street near the fire hydrant and Weeping Willow).

Cloverdale Weekend Weather.

Clear skies and cool temperatures will subdue the turbulent past few days. The Shire will dry today from days of moisture and gusty winds from the storm system now moving deeper into the Confederacy. Expect jacket weather for most of the day. The wise would carry an umbrella on the off chance a stray rain cloud will find its way overhead. Enjoy your Sunday in the Shire.

Marge Chamber's Hobbit Home. A Cloverdale Favorite.

Marge Chambers lives at 224 Clover River Drive in Cloverdale. During the day she works as a window clerk for ShireBank and has done so for the past eight years. She is married to Lonn Chambers, a local contractor. Marge and Lonn are the proud parents of two children.

Marge is considered Cloverdale’s resident expert on all thing Tolkien. She owns all his books. She owns all the various television and motion picture productions of those books. She speaks fluent Elven, as do her children. Lonn struggles with the pronunciation but always gives it his best. There are times his dinner depends on how he responds to her questions when he sits down to eat.

Her regular bank customers are starting to learn a few Elven phrases as well. Through observation they’ve learned that those that speak a bit of the strange fictional language at her window are given a sweet before leaving.

Marge devotes several hours every month volunteering her time in the schools to teach creative writing and the importance of play and imagination in the school’s curriculum. She has several costumes from The Lord of the Rings movie and wears a different one to each school presentation.

Last year she refused to speak English at home until Lonn honored his promise to build a model of a Hobbit home for her school presentations. It took several weeks of work in his garage shop, but when he finished, Marge was so pleased she gave him a special treat and only spoke English for the next two weeks. Lonn was in heaven.

Next month Marge will offer a new service to the community. She will cater special Hobbit dishes to your next family, social or business event. She calls it Dine with the Hobbits. The food promises to be delicious and the beer will be plentiful, as one would expect from a Hobbit banquet. Serving your meal will be Marge and Lonn’s two children, dressed as Hobbits - complete with hairy feet. As a special treat, Marge will change into her Elven costume and do a reading. At the end of the reading Lonn, through no choice of his own, will appear as Gandolf the Wizard to bless the gathering. And, weather permitting, take the children outside to lite sparklers.
